Set on the wild and windswept landscape of Nova Scotia's eastern shore, Secrets in the Sand finds heroine Kelsie and her friend Andy strapped for cash when more horses come to Saddle Island. There's a wild pony from Newfoundland, a mustang mare rescued from the Rockies, and a thoroughbred with no future on the track. Meanwhile, Hank Harefield, who wants to turn Dark Cove into a tourist center, schemes to buy Aunt Maggie's oceanfront property and Saddle Island. Only a search for pirate treasure on the island holds out the hope that Kelsie and her friends can save the horse sanctuary.
