Catryn's friend the stable boy turns out to be Dahl, the hidden king of Taun, a once-beautiful land now on the brink of destruction. They set out to rescue Taun, but in the midst of their adventures, sword fights and encounters with dragons, Dahl also meets the dark side of his own personality, and comes to realize that the dragon inside is more dangerous than the ones he can see. As he struggles with his inner demons, he wonders : can he defeat the Usurper, with Catryn's help, and reclaim his throne?
