Mitsy lives in a small town with her overbearing grandmother after she is abandoned by her crack-addicted mother. Though she dreams of being a hairdresser, her immediate world revolves around a small dog named Sparky. Mitsy's world is shaken up when her mother returns home causing turmoil in the family. Amidst all this conflict, Mitsy discovers her emerging sexuality when she develops a crush on a young man that has no future.
