The story revolves around two young women, Louise and Renee, who are both betrothed to wealthy men. Despite their privileged positions, the two women are deeply unhappy and long for true love and companionship. As the story progresses, Louise and Renee's lives intersect and they become close friends, sharing their hopes and dreams with each other.
