Volume 1 covers basic information and techniques of holding and manipulating the fiddle and bow, teaches the student to learn"by ear", and provides a basic repertoire of familiar songs, culminating in an easy fiddle tune.

Volume 2 is intended for those who already have a rudimentary ability to play, or who have completed Volume 1. It guides the student through more advanced bowing and fingering techniques, and builds a repertoire of easy and appealing dance tunes from Newfoundland and Labrador.
