British Royal Navy aircraft carriers check in as some of the most daunting vehicles on earth. As the film reminds us, the average carrier weighs an estimated 22,000 tons, and has a span that outstrips two football fields; it serves as the home to around 1,000 sailors at a time; it has its own mayor, police force and fire department; and it carries around 25,000 pounds of food and a massive quantity of weapons. This makes it its own small world, a society based at sea and capable of unleashing massive amounts of naval force.
