Thousands of years ago dogs were animals to be feared rather than man's best friend. Two young children wander away too far from home and are captured by the Old Hag of the Wilderness -- they are terrified and beg the animals for help, but none will help until Dog leaves his cold and barren home to help them and comes to live among people.
