Summary:
Cherry Kingsley beat the odds and escaped from hell on the streets of Vancouver. Kingsley was on a spin cycle of drugs and johns when she was viciously raped at gunpoint and nearly killed. This was a defining point in her young life. Bearing a son and connecting with her First Nations roots led her back from the brink of annihilation and gave her the courage to fight back. She began sharing her story and encourages others to come out of the shadows. At the age of 30, Cherry Kingsley received the Governor-General's award in Ottawa in commemoration of the Persons Case. The Award recognized an individual's contribution towards promoting equality for women.
