A teenage Jewish boy from Budapest finds himself in turmoil during Hitler's Final Solution when he is taken from his family and sent to a German concentration camp. Returning home after liberation, he finds he fits in neither with his Christian neighbors who turned a blind eye to his plight nor with his Jewish acquaintances who managed to avoid deportation and want to put the war behind them.
