Photographer Rachel Chapman, having moved with her teenage daughter and new husband to the small college town of Silver Falls, meets her brother-in-law, Caleb, to whom she has an irresistible attraction, but cannot shake the feeling that he might be connected to a series of murders in which the victims all resemble her daughter.
