In 1755, to escape deportation, several acadian families of the hillock with Petard, in New Brunswick, took refuge in the woods on the arrival of the English troops. Thus two young people, Premelia and Fidele, abruptly separated from their father and their mother, find themselves in forest with their grandfather whom one calls Petard. Their escape, that they believed temporary, is transformed into one testing exile which will last eight years.
