Assembled by Bermuda historian Zuill in the 1930's, this book consists of extracts from Bermuda newspapers, books, and "private papers" from 1815 to 1850 "together with many Explanatory Notes." This period saw the abolition of slavery, the difficulties that the war of 1812 had upon Bermuda, moving of the seat of government to Hamilton, increased pirate activity, changes in ship-building, the introduction of steam ships, Bermuda's growth in agriculture, "Modern Nakedness Brought to Bermuda," ship launches and shipwrecks, "On the Fashion of Ladies Carrying Watches in Their Bosoms," crimes of the day, elegant balls, whaing, slave ships, Tom Thumb, and more.
