Summary:
The Mountain of the Lord recounts the forty-year history of the building of the Salt Lake Temple. It begins on the evening before the temple's dedication as President Wilford Woodruff graciously answers the questions of a young reporter from New York. The reporter's cynicism gradually gives way to admiration for the Saints as he learns of their great devotion and sacrifice in building a holy temple. Referring to his meticulously kept journals, President Woodruff relates the amazing story - the inspired moment when Brigham Young declares where the temple will be built, the dark days of Johnston's Army, and finally the temple's dedication forty years after the groundbreaking. The reporter, however, finds that this history only hints at a much deeper story when he learns about the doctrines of the temple: revelation, covenant making, work for the dead, and eternal family relationships. THE MOUNTAIN OF THE LORD authentically portrays the early Saints and their testimony of temple worship. Despite the obstacles, these pioneers were willing to give of themselves and all they had to build a temple worthy to be called "The House of the Lord." - on back of video jacket.
