The Everyday Sexism Project (everydaysexism.com) was founded by writer and activist Laura Bates in April 2012. It began life as a website where people could share their experiences of daily, normalized sexism, from street harassment to workplace discrimination to sexual assault and rape. The Project became a viral sensation and has now collected over 100,000 testimonies from people around the world. Laura Bates writes regularly for the Guardian, the Independent, the New Statesman, and Time Magazine. She has given TEDx talks and she is a contributor at Women Under Siege, a New-York based organisation working to combat the use of sexual violence as a tool of war in conflict zones worldwide.
