This report provides detailed information about each of three levels of the retirement income system in Canada: federal, provincial, and territorial income security programs; the Canada and Quebec pension plans; and occupational pension plans & individual registered retirement savings plans. Data are presented and discussed with regard to such matters as benefits, allowances, supplements, adequacy of income support in relation to poverty lines, special problems facing women, coverage, eligibility or membership, and inflation protection. The final section reviews sources of income for seniors as determined from the Statistics Canada Survey of Consumer Finances.
