In 2010, Vancouver and Whistler will host 17 days of Olympic Winter Games competition (February 12 to 28) and 10 days of Paralympic Winter Games competition (March 12 to 21). A torch relay will precede each of the Games, culminating in the lighting of the Olympic Cauldron on February 12, 2010, and the Paralympic Cauldron on March 12, 2010. As the flame makes its way around Canada for the 2010 Olympic Torch Relay, over 12,000 people will have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be part of history by carrying the flame as it journeys to Vancouver. Beginning March 3, 2010, the 2010 Paralympic Torch Relay will then continue showcasing the glory and emotion of the torch relays, introducing many Canadians to the stirring stories of Paralympians and other Canadians who defy the odds.
