William "Repka was one of more than a hundred left-wing and trade union activists who were interned on Canadian soil between June 1940 and September 1942 under the War Measures Act. Thrown in with German Nazis and Italian fascists, the men had to endure harsh and primitive conditions of imprisonment, often thousands of miles from their homes. Forty years after their release, Dangerous Patriots recounts an unknown, shameful and often unbelievable chapter in Canadian history. The story is told through the inspiring recollections of sixteen interned men and of three of their wives active in the national campaign for their release.
