Lisa's father purchases a claim near Cameronton in the Cariboo. His ownership is disputed. If his claim is not valid, their family will be divided because he will have to leave Cameronton to look for other work. Lisa desperately wants to go to school to learn about mining and is worried that she will never get to live her golden dream.
